Big Motoring World reached out to Audio Volt to design and supply a customised multi-zone audio system for their new showroom in Camberley.
Having previously collaborated on audio systems for other UK locations, including their expansive showroom in Gillingham, Big Motoring World is continuing its trusted partnership with Audio Volt on this latest project.
This new Camberley showroom adds to Big Motoring World's growing network of sites. In order to provide a welcoming environment for both visitors and staff, the audio system was designed to deliver sound throughout the entire space, covering the reception area, office spaces, showroom floor, and garage.
The audio system needed to provide background music throughout the building while maintaining high sound quality. Each zone required independent volume control, with remote volume control plates installed in both the reception and showroom areas.
Given the building’s layout and ceiling structure, a zonal system with ceiling speakers was the ideal solution for most spaces. However, the workshop’s high, open-plan ceiling meant flush-mounted speakers were not an option.
Because of this, we decided on two systems:
Main Building: A zonal mixer/amplifier with ceiling speakers to manage multiple zones.
Workshop: A single-zone mixer amplifier paired with hanging pendant speakers to suit the large, open space.
The Cloud CS-C5W ceiling speakers were used in the office and customer-facing spaces. These speakers are discrete and compact yet offer a high level of sound quality thanks to their built-in back box design.
The Cloud CVS-P62TB pendant speakers were used in the workshop due to the high ceiling and large open area. These provide superior coverage compared to wall speakers (another speaker option), and are out of the way of machinery & storage units that are placed up the walls.
The main building was powered via a Cloud CV8125 8-Channel 100V Line amplifier and controlled with a Cloud Z8 MK4 8-zone mixer. This combination provided a powerful and reliable solution with full control over each zone.
In both the reception and showroom, the Cloud RL-1 remote wall control was installed to provide easy access to the volume levels in those areas.
As the workshop is a single zone, there was no need for a separate mixer and amplifier, so we opted for the Monacor PA-9100D mixer amplifier. This amp provides 1kW of power for the pendant speakers and includes a built-in mixer to control the volume, EQ and audio sources.
All areas were cabled using the Audiokraft Apollo series speaker cable. This was chosen because of its strength and durability. Thanks to the thick insulation of the cable and the number of copper strands inside, it allowed for longer speaker runs to be made with no loss of volume or audio quality, and withstand any installation stress like being pulled tight or bent, ensuring a long, safe lifespan.
